About Paula

Welcome to It’s Only Words, my little corner of the blogosphere. Since I’m in charge here, I get to choose the topics. You can expect to hear my views on local and national politics and pop culture. Warning: I have an opinion and I’m not afraid to use it.

I’m not quite sure what to tell you about myself. I know for sure there’s no way you’re getting my age or weight. I will say that I’m a Washington native; mother of three beautiful daughters and grandmother of three.

I like to tell people I don’t have a real job. I do work part-time from home but it leaves me with a lot of freedom to pursue my other interests. I’m hoping that “someone” doesn’t expect me to get a “real job” when our youngest heads off to college next year.

Speaking of my other interests…I’ve never met a craft I didn’t like. I’ve tried them all, from stamping to scrapbooking to jewelry making, sewing, knitting and crochet. I also like to draw and I’m working on a fantasy novel. I do not, however, count cooking among the many things that I enjoy; given the choice, I prefer scrubbing toilets.

You may notice that my interests are all activities that can be performed while seated. Hence the strong probability that you’ll never learn my weight. I do enjoy some outdoor activities such as gardening. Our house sits on one acre, so during the spring and summer, I spend a lot of time in our yard.

I also enjoy hiking and biking. Unfortunately, both require a base level of fitness to be truly enjoyable. And a companion who doesn’t equate the words “leisure hike” with “forced march.”

I have three resolutions for 2009. The first is to exercise at least four times per week. This is tough as I’m passionately sedentary; hopefully I’m not too stupid to learn from other people’s mistakes as I get older. The second is to read the Bible through again. I’ve done this once before, either six or seven years ago and it was definitely profitable so I’m going to repeat this year. Last, I am going to find time to finish my novel, if for no other reason than to avoid that “real job.”

I’ll keep you posted.
